About this opportunity:
Cenovus is seeking an experienced lawyer to join its Corporate Legal team. The successful candidate will provide legal advice and support to the following areas: Corporate and Subsidiary Governance, Financial Reporting, Finance & Risk, Corporate Development, Tax, Sustainability, Communications, public company disclosure, stock exchange listing requirements and compensation plan matters.
What you'll do:
The successful candidate will provide legal support for a wide variety of matters, including:
Public company governance
Subsidiary governance
Public company disclosure
Public company listing requirements (TSX & NYSE)
Public and private acquisitions and divestitures transactions
Investments in portfolio companies
Confidentiality agreements
Inter-company transactions
Commercial agreements
Equity compensation plans
Who you are:
Our ideal candidate will:
Be legally authorized to work in Canada
Have a Bachelor of Law (LLB) or Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and active membership in the Law Society of Alberta
Have 4-7 years of relevant legal experience
Be well-organized and meticulous, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work within tight deadlines
Be able to work independently and in support of more senior lawyers
Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Have strong business acumen and the ability to align legal strategies with Cenovus's overarching business objectives
Be able to work efficiently and effectively with a variety of disciplines across all levels of the organization
The following training/skills are considered an asset:
Familiarity with NI-51-101 disclosure requirements
Familiarity with the oil and gas industry
We acknowledge the value of transferrable skills and may consider equivalent combinations of experience and education should you not meet a specific requirement.
