Responsibilities
We are seeking a motivated Litigation Associate to join our growing Alberta team. The ideal candidate will have 4 - 6 years of experience in handling civil litigation matters in either private practice or as in-house counsel. In this role, you will independently manage your own files while benefiting from the mentorship of experienced senior counsel on complex cases. You will have the opportunity to gain exposure to a broad range of matters within insurance and commercial litigation. We offer opportunities to work alongside lawyers with established practices handling construction, class action, general insurance and coverage, professional liability, cybersecurity, transportation, product liability and commercial litigation matters. - Managing all phases of litigated cases independently, while receiving guidance and mentorship from senior counsel.
- Conducting questionings, mediations, and chambers applications with a high degree of autonomy.
- Assisting senior counsel on complex and high-profile matters, contributing to strategic case management.
- Overseeing practice and client relations, ensuring effective communication and strong client service.
- Engaging in business development activities and working on enhancing your professional profile to drive growth and visibility.
- Achieving both billable and non-billable targets, contributing to the firm's overall performance and success.
- Provide leadership and mentorship within the team, fostering a collaborative environment and supporting the development of junior colleagues.
What will help you succeed in this role?
Essential
- Licensed to practice law in Canada and a Member in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta.
- 4 - 6 years of experience in handling civil litigation matters, demonstrating a solid foundation in relevant legal practices.
- Exceptional proficiency in English, with strong oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrable organizational skills and the ability to work effectively within a team, maintaining professionalism in all interactions.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and a busy litigation practice while efficiently coordinating with team members.
