Reporting to the Associate Deputy Minister, the Executive Director Alcohol, Gaming, Fuel and Tobacco Division is the executive lead for all strategic and operational decisions related to the legislative and regulatory mandates of the division. The position leads a team of directors to ensure a broad suite of licensing, inspection, compliance and enforcement activities are carried out, and provides oversight to all modernization and continuous improvement initiatives that promote the delivery of the highest quality of programs and services to the public. The Executive Director will lead a transformational agenda as part of the executive management team of Service Nova Scotia, redesigning the organizational strategy, structure, and culture to focus on client service excellence.
The focus of the position is protection of the public and ensuring that hundreds of millions of dollars in provincial revenues are properly remitted. The ultimate outcomes are community safety and improved population health.
You successfully completed a bachelor's or master's degree in a related discipline (e.g., public administration, human resources, business/commerce), coupled with several years of progressive related work experience including experience at the senior leadership level.
Extensive experience in a regulatory role is necessary. Knowledge of the Criminal Code of Canada, Liquor Control Act, Gaming Control Act, Revenue Act, Tobacco Act and the associated Regulations and Policies is an asset.

An equivalent combination of training, education and experience will be considered. Applicants relying on education and experience equivalencies must demonstrate such equivalencies in their application.
Equivalencies considered include, but are not limited to 7 years of relevant experience and training in the field of public administration, human resources, business/commerce, coupled with several years of progressive related work experience including experience at the senior leadership level.

The incumbent is usually located in a comfortable office environment. Occasional field visits.
Pay Grade: EC 15
Salary Range: $4,907.59 - $6,134.46 Bi-Weekly
