EY Canada is looking for an experienced candidate to help support the growth of our firm. You will join our General Counsel's Office, a team of sophisticated in-house lawyers, law clerks, paralegals and administrative professionals who are a respected and integrated part of our professional services firm. You will act as an advisor to our business and help support EY's lawyers and professionals in negotiating and administering complex commercial contracts with some of our most significant clients.

As an integral part of the team, this individual will be directly involved with innovation and administration of our commercial contracting processes, including assisting with developing and updating our templates, negotiating confidentiality agreements, access letters and other contractual documents with our clients, and assisting the lawyers in the EY Canada GCO to work with the business and quality teams at EY to manage contractual compliance.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Support EY business lines to draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements and related documents, including requests for proposals, confidentiality agreements, statements of work, access letters and other commercial arrangements and manage and/or develop alternative contractual positions for negotiation.
  • Analyze issues, problem solve and provide practical, business-oriented solutions.
  • Provide administrative and technical support on special projects, particularly related to commercial contracting, templating and innovating to maximize efficiencies.
  • You will be required to provide appropriate and effective solutions and to consistently provide high-quality risk-appropriate advice to professionals.
  • Support EY GCO lawyers and business lines to develop and execute on contract management.


Skills and attributes for success:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as administrative and time management skills
  • Self-driven, detail oriented and hard-working
  • Previous experience negotiating contractual agreements directly with clients and contract management experience and/or risk management experience would be an asset, but not required.
  • Knowledge of the French language an asset but not required.

To qualify for the role you must have:

  • A minimum of 5 years of corporate law clerk experience.
  • An undergraduate university degree and/or a college Law Clerk diploma with excellent academic credentials.
  • Strong organizational skills, decisiveness and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong MS Office skills.
